October Awareness

October is recognized as both National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and NVIH is proud to support these important causes. Breast cancer can affect anyone, regardless of background or location, making it vital to recognize warning signs, understand your risk, and know what’s normal for your body. Since 1989, efforts led by Susan G. Komen have helped reduce breast cancer mortality rates through early detection and treatment advancements. Continued research offers hope, providing new therapies and targeted treatments that improve outcomes. We encourage everyone to stay informed and consult their healthcare provider if something feels off. On 10/17, we invite our community to join us for Pink Day by wearing pink as our staff raises awareness for this life-changing disease.

NVIH also stands in solidarity with survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We are committed to raising awareness, supporting prevention efforts, and offering resources for those impacted by domestic violence. To show our support, our staff will wear green shirts every Friday in October, and we encourage the community to join us in fostering a safe, supportive environment for all. Together, we can make a difference. For details on NVIH events throughout October, please visit our website and social media platforms to view the Community Health & Outreach calendars.
