We are excited to welcome November at NVIH, as it marks Native American Heritage Month. This month gives us one of the best opportunities of the year to honor Tribal sovereignty. Native Americans have historically been denied the fairness, dignity, and respect they deserve, so any chance we get to celebrate Indigenous Peoples is embraced wholeheartedly. It’s another step toward building a brighter present and future alongside our Native American communities.
This month, we’re hosting a Native American Heritage event on November 2nd at Willows Memorial Hall. Our guest speaker, DJ Vanas, will deliver his always insightful and motivational messaging. For more information, please check out this invite or contact the Community Health & Outreach Department.
November is also Diabetes Awareness Month, this is an important time to shed light on the realities of living with diabetes and ways to manage it. You can get involved by participating in our Diabetes Education Empowerment Program (DEEP), follow our social media platforms for more useful information on this topic. As always, we aim to be a resource for education and to build a sense of community for our patients and all community members.
Happy November!
