Breast Health Awareness Project
Overview
The overall goal of the NVIH Breast Health Awareness Project is to increase the awareness of breast health and wellness with an emphasis on the importance of:
- Monthly Breast Self Exams
- Annual Clinical Breast Exams
- Annual Mammograms
According to the American Cancer Society, few American Indian women receive counseling for prevention or referral for screening. We at NVIH are committed to providing prevention services to our patients.
Outreach Services Designed with YOU in Mind
Beginning in October 2002, the Outreach Department will begin a new service. The Public Health Nurse and Community Health Workers will begin making home visits and provide you with information/education on breast health and wellness. This will give you the opportunity to address questions/concerns that you may have in the privacy of your own home. If you would like more information or to schedule a time that is convenient for you please contact the Outreach Department in Chico at (530) 899-5156 or in Willows at (530) 934-4641.
