February 2012 | Healthy Chocolate Banana Milkshake
Sometimes you have just got to have something sweet. This healthy milkshake satisfies the sweet tooth yet is lower in fat and calories than milkshakes made with ice cream.
Ingredients (for 1 serving)
- 8 oz. vanilla soymilk, vanilla almond milk, or fat-free milk depending on preference
- 1 banana
- 1 heaping tablespoon unsweetened dark cocoa powder
- 1/8 teaspoon raw stevia (natural calorie-free sweetener found in most grocery stores)
- 3 ice cubes
Directions
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Cheers!
Tip: Stevia is a powdered leaf that is powerfully sweet so a little goes a long way when used in raw bulk. Sometimes stevia blends are sold in individual packets like sugar and are equivalent to 1 sugar packet. Stevia is a good sugar substitute for those with diabetes or trying to lose weight because it is calorie-free.
